We explore various non-invasive methods for measuring brain activity.
Our first distinction is based on the type of brain activity being measured:
- electrophysiological brain activity (EA)
- biochemical brain activity (BA)
- metabolic brain activity (MA).
Next, we make a distinction between techniques that use:
- passive sensing (PS)
- active sensing (AS).
We also make a distinction between modalities that can perturb and/or read-out the following fields:
- electric field (EF)
- magnetic field (MF)
- electromagnetic field (EMF)
- acoustic field (AF)
Below is our tiling tree where the row header represents the read-out field and the column header represents the perturbation field.
